We are pleased to announce the availability of these beautiful handmade bokken (wooden training swords).

Made by one of two remaining traditional bokuto artisans in Japan, this Japanese white oak Iwama-Style bokken is approximately 750g (26.5 ounces) in weight and approximately 104 cm (41 inches) long. Size and weight vary slightly. Flat tip (no point) as is the Iwama-Style custom. Branded with “Takemusu Aiki” in kanji on the handle.

The wood is unsealed so you can apply your own finish or for a small fee we will apply a finish of either boiled linseed oil or tung oil, or a mix (your choice).

Here's what prior purchasers say:

The wood itself is truly beautiful.  Thank you so much.

I received the Bokken. It's beautiful.   I'm not sure whether I want to use it or display it.

This is not a cheapie, it is a fantastic quality bokken.  Given the hassles in importing these, the buy-it-now price is a real value!  If you are serious about bokken training or kumitachi, you need a bokuto of this quality for balance, feel, durability, look.

This would also make a fine holiday gift for your aikido friends and family!

Email with any questions.

Shipping and handling in the USA is just US$10 for the first bokken and $5 for each additional item.  Includes shipping insurance.  Please provide a physical address and phone number -- we usually ship Fedex.

We will ship internationally if you have a FedEx account – you would pay the shipping directly and any customs/duties.

The Founder considered Takemusu aikido to be the highest form of Aikido. Takemusu contains two Japanese characters: Take (Bu) = martial, and Musu = to be born. These two characters combine to refer to martial movement spontaneously created, without active thought, resulting in a pure Aikido technique.   O’Sensei felt that one's training went through four major periods of development: Basic Technique, Flexible Technique, Flowing Technique, and finally Takemusu Aiki. He considered this final form of Aikido to be attainable by anyone through practice.
