We are pleased to announce the availability of these jo (wooden training staffs) made of American hickory, which offers an exceptional strength to weight ratio. 

The sanded wood is sealed with one coat of boiled linseed oil.  Size and weight vary slightly but generally fall within the following specifications:

  •  50” (127 cm) jos weigh between 20 – 21 ounces  (584 g), one inch diameter (nominal)
  • 52” (132 cm) jos weigh between 21 – 22 ounces  (600 g), one inch diameter (nominal)
  • 54” (137 cm) jos weigh between 22 – 23 ounces  (630 g), one inch diameter (nominal)

To select your approximate jo size, measure the distance from your armpit to the ground.  Please specify the size of jo with your order (in comments section).

 

The wood is sealed with one coat of boiled linseed oil finish.

Shipping and handling in the USA is just US$10 for the first jo and $5 for each additional item.  Includes shipping insurance.  Please provide a physical address and phone number -- we usually ship Fedex. 

  We will ship internationally if you have a FedEx account – you would pay the shipping directly and any customs/duties.
