Shin Dojo

Among our visions was to create a world-class training center for AIKIDO and to support the local community. Toward this end, we arranged for the planning, design, and construction of a new Dojo facility. The program here is modeled after that of the Iwama Dojo in Japan.  We currently have a long-term lease for the use of the Dojo and grounds.

The Dojo, which opened at the end of 2009, is a world-class energy-efficient dojo facility that includes air conditioning, showers, locker rooms, expansive mat area, uchideshi facilities, and space for seminars.

Many environmental features are incorporated into the site design.   The site plan has won a low-impact design innovation award from EPA.  The building design also has many conservation elements.   You can read an informative newspaper article on the building design and construction -> here.

Your support is appreciated we have set up a Building Fund for donations which originally went toward the finish work on the dojo. Now we are adding to the Building Fund each year to permit Aikido in Fredericksburg to purchase the building and land so as to keep the Dojo a permanent center for Aikido excellence.  We are well on our way to meet our fundraising goals and your contribution will make a difference!
